Pärtel Piirimäe (Ph.D., University of Cambridge, 2007) is Professor of Intellectual History at the University of Tartu. He is a specialist in early modern intellectual history and has published extensively on political and legal thought, the history of international law, natural law and moral philosophy, as well as the history of historiography and propaganda. His current research focuses on Enlightenment-era debates on serfdom and freedom in the Baltic region.
